Rolling Hills Golf Course
VR Design Participation Leads to Cost Savings Used for High-Tech Irrigation System.
Lakes | Irrigation
The Rolling Hills Golf Course project provided a complete irrigation replacement on an existing 18-hole municipal golf course. A new lake was constructed to convert from potable water to SRP water to greatly reduce the operating costs. The irrigation system utilized advanced irrigation technology with the “IC” smart irrigation system allowing for web based control of every head. The Valley Rain team managed the challenges of trenching in shallow bedrock due to the hillside setting in the foothills of the Papago Mountains.
The City brought in Valley Rain at the 90% level to provide budget updates and Value Engineering suggestions. Valley Rain participated in budgeting, value engineering (converting the irrigation system to a newer technology), excavation and trenching alternatives to save cost on rock excavation, constructability reviews, subcontractor selection, construction CPM scheduling and GMP estimating.
