City of Phoenix
Dreamy Draw Recreation Area
A New And Improved Hub For Hikers!
PARKS AND RECREATION | TRAILHEAD
The Phoenix Mountain Preserve features significant undeveloped land within the Phoenix metropolitan area, and the Dreamy Draw Recreation Area is one of its most cherished assets. In planning trailhead improvements, the City prioritized enhancing user experience while preserving the natural desert environment. These upgrades were scheduled alongside the Drought Pipeline Project, which aims to provide residents with reliable water access during droughts, allowing for coordinated construction that minimizes public impact.
To ensure the Dreamy Draw remains functional and accessible for years to come, the City implemented several upgrades, including:
- An expanded parking area with six ADA-accessible spaces
- Two new ramadas
- Six-stall gender-neutral restroom
- Four equestrian trailer parking spaces designed for easy access
- Redesigned bike lane with an adjacent natural surface walking path
- New ADA-accessible paths from the parking lot
These improvements will significantly enhance recreational opportunities for residents, ensuring better access to this vital community resource.
