City of Chandler
Paseo Vista Recreational Area
Yesterday, an Old Landfill –
Today, an Exciting Place for the Community.
Parks and Recreation
Paseo Vista is an 80-acre regional recreation facility constructed on top of the closed and capped Chandler Landfill. The project includes a tournament archery range with covered shooting areas, an 18-hole disc golf course, dog park, interpretive play areas, interpretive art features, multipurpose pathways, parking, native landscaping and significant erosion protection. One of the unique and visually striking elements of the park is an extensive network of rock swales and gabions that control storm water run-off from the site. Valley Rain effectively managed a major traffic challenge with the City to cross McQueen Road (a major arterial) with 350,000 CY in off-road scrapers. Paseo Vista is a Sustainable SITES project and incorporates many environmentally sustainable features.
