City of Mesa

North Center Sports Fields

Working with the City to Expand Sports Venues

PARKS AND RECREATION | ATHLETIC FACILITIES

The City of Mesa 2018 General Obligation Bond Issue included funding to expand soccer field capacity in the City. North Center Sports Fields is a key component of that effort and will provide 5 lighted fields by the end of 2022. The fields will be available by reservation only through the City of Mesa Parks and Recreation Department.

The 24-acre site was formerly used for farming and radio broadcasting. The design emphasizes efficient use of the space for soccer tournament play and adds a rural aesthetic theme by the use of landscape buffers complete with shade trees, white vinyl fencing, sidewalks and an equestrian path.

New perimeter fencing will protect residential neighbors to the south and high “over-kick” fencing will protect ADOT Loop 202 to the north.

Offsite Improvements will include reconstruction of N. Center Street in front of the complex which will be coordinated with the tiling of an existing open SRP irrigation lateral.

Valley Rain was selected to be the CMAR for this project based on its specialized experience in sports fields and offsite utility coordination/construction. The scope includes preconstruction planning, budgeting, value engineering and the complete management of construction. CMAR provides a great opportunity for the City to benefit from the value added by the experienced construction staff of VR.
